I realize that we don’t ask much of our beauty pageant contestants and that brains are regarded as much less important than perky C-cups are, but shouldn’t pageant organizers run a spoon under the noses of their respective contestants to ensure that they are not brain dead?
Don’t answer that question yet. First, watch the following video from this past weekend’s Miss Teen USA pageant, where South Carolina’s representative, Lauren Caitlin Upton, proves that the only thing more frightening than her response to the following question is that she will be able to reproduce and pass her wisdom on to another generation.
And while Ms. Upton is still smarter than George W. Bush, the more frightening fact is that South Carolina ranks in the mid-30s (out of 50 states -- yes, Lauren, there are 50 states) in terms of where their education system is ranked on a national basis. In other words, there are approximately 15 states graduating kids that are dumber than Upton is.
And we wonder why the Japanese are kicking our asses.
